Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) is not known only by its wide medical use, but also by its distinct, pleasant aroma, therefore it is also called as the lemon mint.
The lemon balm aroma eliminates melancholy, interrupted sleep and irritability. Helps to overcome jealousy and other negative emotions. Increases concentration, improves memory and has a relaxing effect.
It is proven that Lemon Balm has antibacterial and antiviral properties, which are caused by substances eugenol (kills bacteria and relaxes muscles), tannins (anti virus) and terpenes (soothing effects). Some studies have demonstrated the ability of the balm to destroy herpes simplex virus.
